In Prague I visited the Alphonse Mucha museum.  While waiting in the lobby for a friend, a group of finely dressed elderly men exited the exhibit and approached me all excited, gasping and quickly speaking in Czech.  I shook my head confused and apologized for not understanding them.

One of them leaned very close to me and lightly touched the long waves of my red hair and spoke to me in English fragments.  ”You”, then he motioned to the huge canvases in the adjoining room, “beautiful, like them,  like them, you belong here.”  The men behind him nodded enthusiastically and he brought his hands to his face and smiled, then he made a little bow with his head and the whole group of them shuffled out of the museum to the busy cobbled sidewalks.

I think to this day that it’s still one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me.
