The Municipal House, Obecní Dúm, (built 1905-1911), which represents the most significant feature of the Prague Art Nouveau period, contains a concert hall, numerous conference halls, restaurants, cafés and many more multifunctional rooms. This cultural center was designed by the czech architects Antonin Balsánek and Osvald Polívka. It was in this building that in 1918 the proclamation of independency of Czechoslovakia took place.
